Angkentye Camps are co-designed through facilitating community consultations where we identify the needs and interests of the men in the community. Following cultural protocols, these consultations are facilitated by our staff and lead by senior men and Elders.

Details
Angkentye Camps are usually conducted over 2-days and can consist of a series of camps which include employment opportunities for local co-facilitators. Our camps prioritise culture while integrating leadership and narrative practices to support the wellbeing of our men.
Outcomes
  • Develop an understanding of the problem stories and their effects on our lives
  • Explore our strong stories and how we can walk in our preferred ways of being
  • Foster a strong sense of self and cultural identity
  • Connect with Country and Culture and understand their role in our wellbeing
Modules

Common activities include:

  • Making traditional tool and artefacts
  • Exploring sacred sites and their stories
  • Passing on traditional songs and dances
  • Untying our knots and help seeking
  • What does it mean to be an Aboriginal man?
  • "Everything you need is in your Culture"
