Stronger Stories Program

A 12-week program aimed at providing community-based access group therapy to male offenders on new Community Corrections Orders, suspended sentences and parole.

The Stronger Stories Program is a moderate-intensity intervention designed to address criminogenic needs and underlying causes of offending. The program utilises strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches to support participants in exploring and acknowledging their offence story to richly develop their life story moving forward.

Details
The program is delivered at Kings Narrative facilities on Ross Highway. Sessions include classroom based activities as well as on Country components with a focus on culture as a source of strength and healing.‍
Outcomes
  • Build rapport with group members
  • Explore personal beliefs about what it means to be a man
  • Understand our life story and the events that have shaped our lives
  • Analyse our offence cycle and identify strategies for alternative pathways
  • Discuss the impacts of offending on self and others
  • Develop an understanding of our emotions and ways to maintain positive relationships
  • Create a prevention plan and prepare to walk in a stronger story
